## Episode Description
Lisa Frankenstein is a unique blend of comedy, romance, horror and fantasy, directed by first-time feature film director Zelda Williams from a screenplay by Juno screenwriter Diablo Corti, displaying her usual dark humor and youthful sensitivity. The film is set in 1989 in middle America, where Lisa, a marginalized high school girl, accidentally resurrects a handsome Victorian corpse on a night of lightning and thunder, setting off a series of bizarre and romantic stories.
Lisa has always been the "odd one out" at school, an introvert with unique interests, a fondness for cemeteries and an obsession with Victorian culture that sets her apart from her peers. One night, Lisa discovers a worn-out tanning bed in her garage - not just any piece of equipment, but a "resurrection machine". On a stormy night, she succeeds in reanimating the body of a Victorian-era man and giving him new life. The "reanimated man" is unable to speak normally, but he is handsome and becomes Lisa's "dream man".
The film is fast-paced and full of youthful school spirit, with a touch of black humor and gothic style. Determined to remake the resurrected man into the perfect lover, Lisa embarks on a quirky journey of "assembling the dream man" by strengthening him with body parts she "borrows" from various people. The story of the dream man's life is a story of a man's life. This insane behavior not only alerts the community, but also pushes Lisa to a moral and humane edge.
As their relationship develops, the movie explores the philosophical theme of "whether the essence of love can be pieced together and reconstructed". The resurrected man gradually regains his consciousness and becomes an important part of Lisa, rather than just a puppet to be controlled. Through this relationship, the director presents a coming-of-age story that goes beyond the depths of traditional love.
The movie has the exaggerated setting of an American comedy, but also has many touching moments, and skillfully expresses the loneliness, misunderstanding and longing of adolescence in a novel "reconfigured love" approach. Whether you're a fan of relationship movies or alternative horror films, Lisa Frankenstein is a refreshing experience.
