The film centers on Du Leying (Jia Ling), a nerdy girl experiencing a life of decadence, and tells the story of how she breaks through from the bottom of her life to regain her dignity and dreams.
Du Leying is a young woman who chooses to close herself off after only a short stint at work after graduation. She has been living alone at home for ten years, virtually cut off from the outside world, and even the emotions between her relatives are cold due to estrangement. When her younger sister Le Dan (Zhang Xiaofei) moves back home after a failed marriage, the two sisters break out in a heated argument over their lifestyles and emotional rift. With an emotional breakdown, Du Leying chooses to run away from home and begins a new attempt at life - working as a waitress at a barbecue restaurant, living a barely subsistence lifestyle.
Fate arranges a chance encounter with a downtrodden boxing coach, Hao Kun (Lei Jiayin), who is also at his lowest ebb. Although Hao Kun has suffered a blow, he still has the dream of boxing in his heart. Du Le Ying sees passion and persistence in him, and gradually recovers her own long-lost enthusiasm and vitality. While supporting Haokun, she also begins her own life of rebellion - from self-denial to complete transformation, she interprets the meaning of "rebirth" with truth and sweat.
